After attending one of our monthly T.A.B Lowcountry board meetings, we were inspired to share this video. This entertaining viral video is a great example of just how fast technology is evolving everyday! Not like we aren’t too far off from this, but picture living your life at the touch of a button anywhere you need it. Soon enough you’ll be able to control your landscape lighting from anywhere!

Moonlighting Installs Custom Playground Lights

Recently Moonlighting was presented with the opportunity for a little creativity in our lighting design, for a client in Mount Pleasant. The home owner expressed his desire to illuminate a playground, in his backyard for his young children. After evaluating the site, we determined the best way to add some light would be to mount two new lights on the playground itself from above.

Lighting the playground from above would allow the lights to be out of the way of the children, as well as less of a maintenance hazard. One light was mounted on the far end of the playground while the other light was mounted directly above the slide. After the lights were mounted, we were able to run the wire through some mounted PVC pipe. By mounting the wire in pipe, it safely keeps the wire from being accessible to the children, and protects the wire from any wear and tear that it might endure. The lights were mounted and positioned to where the lighting was evenly dispersed, to help wash the playground and make it a safer play environment in the evening hours.

A squirrel had been relentlessly gnawing on the wiring that was mounted on the tree, powering a down light. Recently Moonlighting installed a landscape lighting system for one of our newest clients, at their home on Kiawah Island. We were able to work closely with the clients, as they expressed several elements of their landscape that were very important to them. They left it up to Moonlighting to provide them with a design that they would be able to enjoy for many years to come!  The landscape consisted of some beautiful existing live oaks, as well as some planted palms and crape myrtles. The additional landscaping work was done by Green Jeans Landscapes, of Johns Island. Green Jeans did an amazing job of the placement and arrangement of the landscape, which allowed Moonlighting a great opportunity for lighting. Because the landscape design was so elegantly executed, we were able to provide our clients with a very subtle, yet balanced landscape lighting design.

In regards to the project, the homeowners went on to say “As if by magic, you have transformed the night-time appearance of our home. The result, even more beautiful than we anticipated. The project was achieved on time, on budget, and with full commitment to our stated objectives. Your work and creativity enhance our home and make living in it even more pleasurable.”

The homeowners displayed great enthusiasm and passion for the project, which in return made Moonlighting very proud to have made this such a wonderful experience for them. Landscape Lighting Time Clock

Now that Day light savings time has begun, it is imperative that your time clocks be adjusted accordingly on your landscape lighting system. It’s also the time of year when cool evenings give you all the reason more to relax on your porch, and take in the true beauty of your landscape after the sun has set. Currently night fall is setting in around 8:00 pm, so don’t miss a minute of your landscape lighting!

In the Spring of 2005, Moonlighting completed the landscape lighting installation in the Freshfields Village on Johns Island. Freshfields is located at the crossroads of Kiawah Island and Seabrook Island. It’s a great combination of retail shopping, and restaurants for all of it’s patrons to enjoy.

The system has been installed now for 6 years and remains in impeccable condition. Freshfields has allowed Moonlighting the opportunity to maintain the system on a monthly basis since the  original installation. The system is composed of both line voltage as well as low voltage fixtures. The real key to an efficient and properly running system is consistently practicing proper maintenance techniques. With the harsh conditions that a landscapes faces in the lowcountry, landscape lighting is as susceptible as any other aspect of the outdoors . With a steadfast maintenance program a landscape lighting system will flourish amongst a landscape for years to come. This was a great project for Moonlighting to be a part and we want to thank Freshfields for the dedication that they put into their landscape lighting system.
